I’ve gone mad, detoxed, cut my hair, packed on 15 pounds, lost 15 pounds, grew my hair back out and earned a few more wrinkles. Hot dang, I’m almost 40.

Okay, so 39 has pretty much sucked. Not really, but it’s been hard. It’s been one full year since I quit smoking. I can breathe better. My house smells cleaner. And I guess I saved some money…somewhere. But to tell you the truth, I still think about them suckers every day. All day. With each cup of coffee. With every code I write. It sure hasn’t been easy.

My dad gave me some records and most of them are really old. I’ve been putting them out on eBay, but as I get them cataloged I figured I would post them here. You can buy them on eBay…but see what I have here.

So I’ve spent the past week or so cleaning trash, real stinky trash, out of the neighbors yard, house, barn, garage, dog house…you name it if it was a space it had trash.

I’ve never seen so much garbage in one place before. The kid (the horse abuser - Jerrit Engledow) next door up and left and finally the real owners were able to buy back what should have been theirs in the first place. He sure left a mess and since Natacha and Ernie live in Colorado and will be making several trips to haul farm equipment, house stuff, cattle, and junk I figured they would need a place to stay during each trip.

I ponied up, threw on some leather gloves and hit the ground running. 40 some odd 50 gallon trash bags later, the yard and the house were cleaned out. The garage, barn and garage apartment are still left. Smells like something is dead over there too. Hope it’s not that little dog! I scrubbed and scrubbed the kitchen and bathroom and got finished in the nick of time for their first load delivery. Talk about some happy campers!! I thought Natacha was going to never quit crying. Bless her heart.

Remember that ‘bull’ who wandered up last November/December? Well, his owner finally claimed him. We fed ol’ Goofy for six months, and in that time you kinda get attached to an animal. He was sure skittish, and wasn’t prone to makin’ friends, but he finally started trusting me enough to let me pet his head.

Of course there were days he wouldn’t come to my whistle, or would act like I was going to jump up and yell boo. That’s why I called him Goofy. He never did settle down much, and I honestly don’t think he ever will. Which, in the long run, is okay I guess. Read the rest of this entry »

Yeast Rolls. Warm from the oven, sweet, soft, dripping in butter. If that ain’t Heaven then nothing is. I love these kinds of rolls and to think I don’t even have to knead is just the icing on the cake. Or in this case, the butter on the roll! Read the rest of this entry »

Socks. That beautiful, sorrowful, sad creature. I miss him greatly already. He was diagnosed with advanced cancer of the penis and the vet recommended he be put down. It’s tragic really. Had they known or had they paid any attention, Socks would not have suffered for so long. He was dying a slow and very painful death and no one cared, no one fed him, no one eased his pain.

They were to put him down last week. God bless him. May his days always be sunny and his pastures green.

A quick visit to the vets office yesterday provided the much dreaded news that Socks had been taken from the property and hidden from my prying eyes. Today, January 18, 2005 the vet will examine Socks and provide the Sheriff with his report. In the meantime the woman partly responsible for his condition will take him home with her.
