Goofy the Steer is Gone

Remember that ‘bull’ who wandered up last November/December? Well, his owner finally claimed him. We fed ol’ Goofy for six months, and in that time you kinda get attached to an animal. He was sure skittish, and wasn’t prone to makin’ friends, but he finally started trusting me enough to let me pet his head.

Of course there were days he wouldn’t come to my whistle, or would act like I was going to jump up and yell boo. That’s why I called him Goofy. He never did settle down much, and I honestly don’t think he ever will. Which, in the long run, is okay I guess. Read the rest of this entry »

Socks is Dead

Socks. That beautiful, sorrowful, sad creature. I miss him greatly already. He was diagnosed with advanced cancer of the penis and the vet recommended he be put down. It’s tragic really. Had they known or had they paid any attention, Socks would not have suffered for so long. He was dying a slow and very painful death and no one cared, no one fed him, no one eased his pain.

They were to put him down last week. God bless him. May his days always be sunny and his pastures green.

No Justice For Socks

A quick visit to the vets office yesterday provided the much dreaded news that Socks had been taken from the property and hidden from my prying eyes. Today, January 18, 2005 the vet will examine Socks and provide the Sheriff with his report. In the meantime the woman partly responsible for his condition will take him home with her.
